Drug house

The second brothert has been picked up for not reporting to his parole officer, so both brothers are in jail.

The nephew, however, is still there and I have always thought he is the one behind the activity which has been picking up. No one is sure who lives there and who doesn't.

Dorothy's House 2

One of our neighbors called me to say that he had heard the new owner was going to try to make this a duplex... so those of you at that end of the street, please keep an eye out. I am disappointed to see half of the yard concreted.

This owner owns 5636 Culver -- the yellow duplex with the completely concreted front yard. He has put up a tall fence in the back to disguis all of the additions and outbuildings that he is renting at the location. One man rents a single room with another man.

Dorothy's House

On my walk last night I walked mostly around this house. As I continued, the his sister down the street asked if there was something wrong with the house... I told her I was mostly looking at the confederate house next door.

She volunteered that her brother had bought Dorothy's house and was fixing it up. I asked if he was going to live there. She replied yes. Something about having lots of kids and one had gotten married and was going to live where they are currently. They have put in all new windows and appear to be spending a considerable amount. Also looks like they might be adding an illegal carport, but not sure.

I did let her know that I had heard that sometimes her brother rented to too many people and that was why I was asking if he intended to live there.

She also volunteered that her brother was also talking to Mr. Potz(?) about the confederate house. Apparently Mr. Potz is in the hospital and when he gets out, the brother expects to buy it for $30,000 rather than the $45,000 being asked.

I am concerned if he buys up a lot of stuff and starts renting it out because he apparently has a reputation.

His sister is a very nice woman and my only complaint about her house is the concreted front yard.

Criminals who came to a bad end.

I was talking with my neighbor.

The young man who was implicated in several robberies in our neighborhood and was eventually apprehended . He was the young man we would see with a satchel and was I believe the young man who was assaulted by some of his hispanic victims. Apparently he did not learn from that experience.

He tried to rob a cleaners on John West and was killed last week.

Audacious crtiminals

In light of the thefts and attempted thefts yesterday, I went out to lock my back gate this morning at 8. I looked out and I see a man coming out of my next door neighbors yard and there is a lawnmower in the alley.

Me: "What are you doing"
Him: "I mow yards"
Me: "Where do you live"
Him: "Grand"
Me: "Is that your lawnmower"
Him: "Yes"
Me: "I am going to call the police"

I think I had also told him we didn't like people in the alley and he apologized.

No one mowing lawns would be in the alley and wouldn't be coming out of someone else's back gate.

I went next door to my neighbor and we walked around the side of her house to see the gate open -- at which point she got concerned and I went to call the police. A little later I saw her son drive off, I believe to look for the thief.

I looked down the alley and didn't see him. The police didn't seem much concerned--said they would send someone into the area -- When, I don't know. I hadn't seen them when I left for work at 8:30.

And eyewitnesses are useless as they always say. My recollection is that he was African American, about my height or taller (6 foot maybe), slender and carrying a satchel (and pushing a lawnmower). Maybe a mustache. I think I was just so surprised to see him I didn't pay better attention.

So, be careful out there. Be sure everything you want to keep is locked up and secured. This is clearly a crime of opportunity. This lawnmower was probably in their outbuilding, but not locked -- similar to the saw stolen yesterday. The man with the locked toolsheds lost nothing though the criminal tried to jimmy it.

There seems to be increased activity -- lots of coming and going at the drug house and some connection between it and the duplex across the street from it.

My neighbor 3 doors over just called to say that someone has stolen his circular saw out of his garage. He has his suspicions about who might have done it.

So be extra careful out there.
