prostitutes

On Thur. 6-26-08 I saw another prostitute at Dolphin and Samuell. This is the most aggressive of all the girls that were in our neighborhood last year. She had been put in jail and was told not to return to this area. She was always at Dolphin and Culver last year and would pull out her boobs and pull her dress up above her waist (not wearing anything under). Someone would always pick her up before the police arrived. She is white, about 45 years old, 5 ft. 7 in. and probably 160-170 pounds. She has long brown hair that is often died red and always wears a short tight dress. Before she was put in jail she and her pimps drove through the neighborhood until they found my truck. They came to my house 2 times yelling and threatening me. I called the police and they found them and got their identification information. The police returned to my house and told me to buy a shotgun immediately called 911 but they were of no help yesterday. I have left a message with Det. Porcoff (Vice) He was helpful last year. I don't want this to get out of control again. When they start their business they bring with them drug dealers and drug buyers and thieves. If anyone sees anything please post it so I can keep the Vice informed. Also call the police.

Tuesday Night's Mystery

The mysterious boom and power outage on Tuesday night were apparently caused by a transformer fire at Scheppes Dairy (according to a news item tonight).

Homeless

Yesterday ( Thur) I saw a tall 50ish black man I did not recodnize walking down Fairview. About 3 hours later I saw a Hispanic man with long hair walking down Fairview that I also did not recognize. Both were carrying platic bags. By the time I saw them they were several houses away from me. If any of you know me I would be out confronting them immediately . Today (Fri) I saw the same two guys at Winslow and I-30 begging fo r money. If I see them again I will work my business. Just to let you know to watch out. In the past people that walk through neighborhoods with bags and back packs are looking for things to steal.

Neighborhood Maps

I don't understand how to get into the maps at the library site. I do know that Owenwood ,as it is now, was built in the 1920's. The first house I could find built east of Beeman was built in 1924. There may be an earlier one that I don't know about. At that time the Dallas city limits ended at about 3239 Fairview. Thats why there are no old lamp post east of my house at 3223 Fairview. So my point is, there would be no streets on that map for our neighborhood east of Beeman in 1920.

Prostitue Sighting

I saw a prostitue in the By-Lo parking lot today (Friday) at 1 pm. She use to stay at the Culver whore house and Culver drug house. She later moved to 3443 Kinmore and was later arrested. She is a white lady with blonde hair. She is thin and about 5 ft. tall. Today she is wearing a very short and tight black and white dress. She is carrying a white purse and wearing pink sandles. She was with her black pimp. He is tall and was wearing black pants and a do-rag. I called the police. They called and left me a message about 20 min. later. He said he had given her a citation and told her he had better not catch her there again. I HOPE THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHE WALKED OVER THE FREEWAY BACK INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!

Ancient History

http://www.dallaslibrary.org/CTX/murphyandbolanz/home.html

This is a link to the 1880-1920 Murphy and Bolanz maps on the Dallas Public Library Website. You have to download a plug in to view them, but they are great fun. I have found the map of our neighborhood from Beeman West to East Grand which shows the streets taken out by I-30 (Roscoe, Oleander and East Pike). This neighborhood was called Park View Place [link below].

http://dallaslibrary.org/CTX/murphyandbolanz/Block6/bb6p234.html

Still trying to find the map from Beeman heading East (Owenwood). Though it may not have been platted by 1920 or Murphy and Bolanz didn't do it. Several searches using the streets yield nothing. Several of the houses on my block supposedly date from 1925.

Enjoy!

When those Boards Don't Stay Boarded

Somone has pried one of the boards loose on the house on Culver that has been boarded up. And the neighbors heard someone in there. I have called Maureen who has also let the police officer for our neighborhood know as well.

So we are keeping an extra eye on it.

Stolen Plants

A few days ago there were potted plants being stolen at a house on St. Charles between Fairview and Kinmore. The lady that lives there did not know until her son pulled up. He knocked the theif out and called the police. As the theif began to wake up another son arrived and knocked him out again. When the police arrived they hand cuffed the two brothers because the theif was in such bad shape. They later let them go and took the theif to jail. All I know is that he was
hispanic and had a car. I have been in the neighborhood 20 years and every June and July I had plants stolen until I started chaining and locking my plants down. Just wanted to inform everyone .

Neighbor Murdered in Mexico

As I waited for the bus this morning there were a lot of people in the yard a few houses down across the street. I inquired if something was wrong and a young man told me that his father had been murdered in Mexico as he was preparing to come back. They were going to Mexico to bury him.

I don't know the young man or how he fits in the neighborhood -- may be a nephew of the occupants. Sad situation.

I only write this to warn you about the dangers of visiting Mexico. The drug cartels apparently have free rein with automatic weapons. NPR reported 150 people killed in just one province, in only one month.

Drug Runner

Robert also reports that he has once again seen the guy suspected in the past of being the drug runner (and also the perpetrator of many of the burglaries).

He believes he might be related to the man at the drug house that burned on Kinmore.

Tall with a goatee -- light black -- looks Hispanic.

It was only 2 days after he reappeared a couple of weeks back that my garage was burglarized. So be on the lookout and remember to lock everything up.

Kingdom Hall

Robert works with 2 nurses -- one worships at the Kingdom Hall and one at St. Luke's. Both believe that St. Luke's has purchased the Kingdom Hall. He also saw people in the alley behind it over the weekend -- with clipboards and things so maybe it is moving forward.

What apparently is not moving forward (or out of the neighborhood) is the prosteletyzing by the Kingdom Hall folks. They seem to be at my door every weekend despite my sign saying "No Solicitors -- Including all Religious Groups"

(Robert is still having difficulty with posting so I am posting this on his behalf)

Toxic stuff right here in Owenwood

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/graphics/0508/toxic/

This is a link to an interactive map showing locations in the City that store toxic chemicals. In our neighborhood, it is Shepps Dairy which stores ammonia. The News is doing a 3 day series on the chemicals around town.

Kingdom Hall Status?

Robert posted back on April 24 that St. Luke Methodist purchased the Kingdom Hall (Jehovah Witness) Church here in our neighborhood for $200,000. Kingdom Hall is located at 5322 Beeman Ave Dallas, TX 75223.
It's been a few months, and the for sale sign is still out front and the grass has been overgrown much of that time. It's apparent that the JW's have left the building, but I am curious if the sale to St. Luke actually closed and is complete.

I have noticed that when the Kingdom Hall lawns are mowed, it is not as often as St. Luke's nor by the same landscape company. In fact, it looks like a bunch of church volunteers that mow the Kingdom Hall lawns. You would think that if it is owned by St. Luke, the lawns would be taken care of the same. Also, I have noticed that despite the horrible parking situation in the neighborhood for the "St. Lukers" that the Kingdom Hall parking lot remains locked up. Again, one would think that if St. Luke does own the property now, that they would open the parking lot for their people to use on Sundays.

As of today, the Dallas Appraisal District still shows the owner of the property being "Fair Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" with a market value of $283,050.

If anyone knows the status of the Kingdom Hall property, leave a comment.
