Dolphin Road

I talked with the Dallas County Project Engineer for Dolphin Road. He tells me it is taking so long because of the utilities. Also, that the concrete has to cure for 28 days.

He did assure me that for the State Fair, they will have all four lanes open. They will then complete the other half of the road after the State Fair.

Well. thank goodnes for that. Currently, I have difficulty getting out onto Dolphin Road because the traffic is backed up for 3 or 4 streets with the current 2 lanes. Couldn't imagine how difficult it would be with Fair traffic.

And yet again, they are rearranging Code Enforcement. Apparently moving inspectors out to satellite offices closer to the neighborhood.

According to something I saw on the Dallas Morning News Website -- the SE Sector Manager is

Lull before the Storm, Too Hot for Crime?

Things in the neighborhood seem to be relatively quiet. Robert reports seeing no drug dealers or prostitutes during his drives to work and through the neighborhood in the middle of the night. He has seen increased police activity in the Samuell area on the other side of the freeway. I have even noticed that there seems to be less gunfire.

So we are holding our breath -- will the bad guys be back when it cools off and when the police go somewhere else?

So, I guess the answer is to simply continue to be extra vigilant.

For Sale: 3001 Culver Street

We learned over the weekend that the Williams family is wanting to sell their late mother's home at 3001 Culver Street. According to a neighbor, they are considering to sell for only $45,000 (which is below Dallas' appraised value).

I have been in the front rooms of the house a year or so ago and the house is charming. Needs a lot of cleanup, some color, and looks like some minor siding work.

Honestly, if were weren't planning a relocation to Chicago within the next couple or three years, we would seriously consider purchase of this home.
