3232 Culver

I checked with the City today and they now have a permit.  Amazingly, you can get some things done in only one day in the City.  The demolition is proceeding quickly -- though the wet weather and soggy ground aren't helping.

3232 Culver

It turns out that if you want to demolish a house, you need a permit.  So the City has told them they need one.  In demolishing, you need to leave the lot blade clean.

And the good thing, is that if something is built back on the lot, it could not be a duplex because it would have lost any grandfathered rights it might have had.

3232 Culver

The duplex where the foundation failed is being dismantled.  Apparently by the guys next door who are taking it apart piece by piece and from what I overheard intending to use the wood to build themselves a garage.

Now that could be either a good thing or a bad thing since I believe that they operate an illegal car repair business at their address.

Thieves

A suspicious man on a bicycle was spotted in the alley in the 3400 block between Culver and Fairview.  Police were called and picked him up.  He had warrants so was taken away.   Hooray for vigilance and calling the police.

Snakes

Michael in the 3400 block of Fairview found 2 more copperheads.  I think this brings this summer's total to something like 8 or 10.

Whether they cross Dolphin Road is up in the air.  There was a reported sighting in the 3200 block so be careful out there.

Follow up on Thefts

The same man who lost tools also lost his ATV in a daylight theft.  (Witnessed by Robert and Michael --who didn't realize that is what was going on).  A vehicle pulled into the alley and took it.  So they are casing the area.

Shed Break-In Attempt

As Lorlee posted on October 7, the criminals seem to be back into the swing of things in our neighborhood.

Ever since the last time my shed was broken into last time and I had repaired the doors, I make it a point to inspect my shed doors each time I enter it for signs of attempted break in. As of Sunday afternoon, the doors were free of such markings, today, however, there are signs that a small crow bar or more likely a tire iron was used to try to pry the doors apart.

This means the break in was attempted last night or the previous (Sunday) night. Keep your eyes out for criminal element again. Soon they will be stealing more than what has already been reported.

Alert

The sticky fingered folks are apparently back. They stole tools from a locked van in the 3500 block of Fairview. Fortunately, mostly what they got was stuff that doesn't work -- though they didn't know that when they stole the stuff.

Robert has seen a potential prostitute so keep your eyes open.
