I went to the meeting about garbage/recylcing at St. Lukes on January 21.
If you don't know, starting March 1, the entire City will go to once a week garbage and once a week recycling pickup. They will both be picked up on the same day and for our neighborhood that will be Tuesday.
If you do not have a large blue recycling can, you can call 311 and order one. If you need more than one, it will be provided free. If you need more than one garbage can, your bill will be raised by about $10 each month.
One can recyle virtually all of your trash, cardboard, paper (including phone books), glass, tin cans, aluminum and all plastics.
The only things not accepted are plastic bags, styrofoam, and waxed cartons.
All of it goes together in the blue bin -- no need to separate.
You will be receiving hangers on your garbage can, letters and all sorts of other information explaining it.

Murders

This is a link to all of the murders in the city for 2009. The only in our neighborhood are the 2 we knew about on Beeman still listed as unsolved. There are a couple connected with the businesses on Samuell, but in my mind, I-30 acts somewhat like a moat, so I don't worry about them as much.
