Continued concerns in the 3200 block

Some of the neighbors have observed what they believe to be drug activity -- originating in the house where the suspect in the burglaries lives.

On Friday, he and his friends were so brazen as to case one of the neighbor's homes, looking in the window, etc. when they observed him leave by car.  He came back to catch them in the act.  He called the police and confronted the older gentleman who lives in the house who apologized.

This morning, as I was chatting with my neighbor about Mrs. Williams, they got in their car and pulled out into the street and stopped right where we were chatting to try and intimidate us.  I stopped and knocked and told the older gentleman that I didn't appreciate their actions.  He apologized to me as well.

But I am doubtful that he has any control.

They drive a newer model black Dodge Charger so be on the look out.

Mrs. Williams

Mrs. Williams, our long time neighbor, at 3123 Culver passed away last evening.  She was 90 years old and has lived in the neighborhood since before I have.

Her grandson is "Bear" the man who rides the handicapped scooter.

Broken Window

The window at 3222 has had something lobbed through it. This is the home of the young man who seems to be involved with people of less than sterling character. Most of the disturbances in the neighborhood in the last months have originated from here -- gunshots, fights, racing cars, suspected burglaries -- to name a few.

Appears that this type of behavior and associates attracts unwanted consequences.

As someone who was the victim of broken windows about 20 years back, I don't wish it on anyone, whatever their actions. I just hope that he cleans up his act or moves so the rest of us don't suffer collateral damage.

According to a neighbor, the police were at this house for about 2 hours on Monday of this week. Hopefully, some action will be forthcoming.

update

It is the same house.   Twice in a week -- 4 times in 4 months.  Don't know what they are after.

Another Burglary

The Crime mapping shows a second burglary in the 3200 Block of Culver on Jan. 13.  Same description of the offense -- side window break in.  I don't know if this is the same house that was hit on Jan. 11 or another house.  I will make some inquiries.

If it is the same house, this would have been her 4th burglary in  4 months.  I don't think she has much to steal, so am puzzled by the repeated offenses.

Suspicious Activity Reported

I have to say that I am not totally surprised about the burglary yesterday. During the day on January 10th, I noticed a middle to late middle aged white man riding a bicycle continuously on Culver, St. Charles, and Beeman. At times he would stop to make a phone call on his mobile phone.

As I left my house on January 10, I placed a call to 911 after I watched him stopped on the phone and then was met by an older model small blue and black Toyota pickup truck. He spoke to the driver and passenger from his bicycle, then they both drove off in different direction. I had seen this truck slowly driving around the neighborhood earlier that day.

The police said they would dispatch a cruiser to look for these folks. I never received a return/followup call from the police regarding my call.

The gentleman is on a red bicycle, middle to late middle aged, stubble bearded, and was wearing a dark charcoal or black ski type coat.

Burglary on Culver Street

According to an online crime website, there was a burglary on the 3200 block of Culver across the street from Owenwood Park yesterday. The description said that they broke into house through side window, stole property and fled via the back door.
