New Crime

I finally found out what the "Criminal Mischief greater than $1500" that showed up on the Crimemapping website was.  Turns out it is the theft of a brand new central AC unit from the house that was recently redone.  Unit hadn't even been turned on yet.  Happened around the 4th of July at 3231 Culver.  Owners assume they came down the alley and the theft occurred early morning about 5:30.  The owner has replaced it and put an iron cage over it.   The unit is on the side of the house in plain view and when the crime happened the neighbor on that side was gone.

One wonders if classifying it as Criminal Mischief is the Police Department's way of making the crime rate appear less serious.  This is plain old theft.

Our perp who is on parole is back in the neighborhood and he or one of his cronies on the bicycle has been seen in the alley casing.

We have also been finding parts of a golf cart strewn up and down the street.  Probably was stolen and on a joyride.
Be careful out there.

Summer

Don't know if it is too hot for the bad guys or what.  Has been relatively quiet according to the crime mapping site.  A couple of carjacking/uauthorized use of vehicle on Dolphin Road.  I find that interesting since it is such a busy road -- must be happening at night.

Our suspected culprit has apparently been quiet.  The new people in the house next to him have someone home during the day and they have a dog -- which unfortunately they let run loose.

3218 Culver now looks about 10,000 percent better than it did.  New siding, windows, paint and he is repairing the inside.  He has been hauling away all of the junk from the fallen down garage.

3231 Culver was completely redone and has been purchased by the daughter of 3227 Culver.

Now if I could just get those who use the park to pick up after themselves and not steal the trash cans.
